Intramural Competitions

St Paul’s School

When pupils join St Paul’s School they are put into a “Club” (akin to the ‘House’ system in other schools). The clubs are named A, B…through to H.

More inspirational names have been tried on more than one occasion but have not stood the test of time, the simplicity of the names seems to appeal to the pupils.

Throughout their time at St Paul’s School the pupils take part in intramural competitions for their clubs. Each week there is a wide variety of events taking place. These include some mainstream events such as Club Football, Club Indoor Athletics as well as some more esoteric events such as Uni-hoc and Kwik Cricket.

Non-sporting competitions are also keenly contested in events such as Club Debating and Club University Challenge and a particular highlight is the Annual Club Drama competition.

While scores are kept for the overall competition, and a cup is awarded, the real aim of the club system is to encourage participation and to give opportunities for all pupils to represent their club.

St Paul’s Juniors

All pupils at St Paul’s Juniors belong to one of our four houses: Ash, Beech, Oak or Thorn.

The house system helps to foster team spirit across the school with pupils being supportive of, and being supported by, their house community. Further information is available here.
