Kayton Library

“If we encounter a man of rare intellect, we should ask him what books he reads.” Ralph Waldo Emerson

The Kayton Library was redeveloped in 2017 and provides a bright and inspiring learning environment for the whole school community.

We aim to provide the books, resources and services to support pupils and staff in their scholarship and their reading for pleasure. The Library is a quiet, welcoming space for all.

The library contains a collection of approximately 27,000 books, most of which can be borrowed. We also have a dozen paper magazine subscriptions plus three daily newspapers. We subscribe to a number of online databases, including JSTOR, Gale Schools, PressReader and Economist Online, which pupils and staff use to support their reading and research.

The Kayton Library also houses the Schofield Rare Books Room and the school Archives. These contain books from the fifteenth century onwards and artefacts of all kinds.

The Library has a team of four, including a professional librarian and a professional archivist. We offer workshops, teaching support, and displays of the old and rare materials in our care.
