SPS Inclusion Alliance

Since 2020, St Paul’s School has been on a journey of embedding diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI) across our entire community.

In 2023, we developed and launched our strategic approach to DEI and, as part of this, began considering the different ways in which we could gather up-to-date information about staff and student experiences in relation to DEI. In an effort to better understand the different perspectives and experiences of our community, the school relaunched its Diversity and Inclusion Working Group as the Inclusion Alliance in Autumn 2023-24.

The Inclusion Alliance brings together both staff and students from across SPS to share their thoughts and perspectives on how the school promotes DEI. The group consists of three members of support staff (of which one is the Head of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion, who chairs the group), three members of teaching staff, and two students from each year group.

The objectives of the group are as follows:

  1. The group shall serve to inform students and staff on issues relating to diversity, equality and inclusion (DEI), in order to achieve a baseline level of knowledge around DEI across the school.
  2. The group shall serve to facilitate conversation around DEI across the school, as a means of encouraging students and staff to engage in thinking around the subject.
  3. The group shall serve to advocate for change, particularly in relation to how DEI is embedded within the student and staff experience, including but not limited to the curriculum/co-curriculum, pastoral, and policy and process.

Membership to the group will renew every academic year, and both students and staff will have the opportunity to put themselves forward. The Head of Diversity, Equality and Inclusion will then review the applications and choose the successful candidates.

If you have any questions about the Inclusion Alliance, please do not hesitate to contact Mr Tyler John, Head of DEI.
