Lester Mak

1992-1997

As the son of parents running a Chinese takeaway, I wouldn’t have come to St Paul’s had it not been for a government-assisted place. This opportunity allowed me to flourish in a highly academic environment, earning a scholarship and later a place to study Biochemistry at the University of Oxford.

I now work as a strategy and policy consultant. Today, bursaries are the only way to give that important opportunity to talented students who would otherwise not have the means.
