“Thou shouldst not have been old till thou hadst been wise…”
Winter 1978. Blizzards, strikes and power cuts take their toll on a beleaguered Britain, whilst a sea of rubbish bags swamps London’s Leicester Square. Overwhelmed by the crisis, Lear abruptly abdicates, dividing his kingdom amongst his children. Misjudging their loyalty, he soon finds himself stripped of the trappings of wealth and power that had previously defined him, forced instead into exile and madness. A senior cast of actors deliver a shattering vision of Shakespeare’s finest tragedy.
Tickets are £10.
