Rugby News

The Rugby Club has been busy over the last week. On Friday the U10s travelled to St John’s Beaumont on a dreary and damp day and, on damp and squelchy pitches, all the sides played some excellent rugby. The A team played out a creditable draw against a robust side, whilst the B and D teams both won.

On Saturday, the U12  and U13 welcomed DPL for the annual Whitcomb Cup. Always a fantastic morning of rugby played at breakneck speed and with great quality, this edition was no different. SPJ played exceptionally well across the four fixtures that survived the weather, winning all four games in style. The U13 C, D and E teams all played away at DPL on Monday and more quality rugby ensued. DPL won two of the three matches with our D team drawing one. This leaves the cup delicately poised at 4-2 with the U12D and E to play next week.

On Tuesday, the U10 welcomed St George’s to Lonsdale Road on a lovely day and in front of a good collection of parents. The A team won a physical and high scoring encounter, whilst the B team played out a similarly high scoring affair to win well. The C, D and F teams all won as well to cap an excellent day on the fields.

On Wednesday, the U12s travelled to Dragon with A, B, C and D teams to play a triangular with the hosts and Cheltenham College. The A team played tremendously well against classy opposition and won both their matches in incredibly exciting contests. The B team also beat both their opponents, as did the D team. The C team played against solely Dragon and also won well completing a fine and unbeaten afternoon.
