The end of last week saw fixtures against St Benedict’s. Unfortunately, we were unable to play the scheduled U10 matches due to the visitors having transport issues. However, the U11 sides travelled to Ealing. The A team’s tough run continued with another defeat by a decent and direct side. It has been a hard half a term for them and they deserve the break that’s coming. I am sure they will come back refocussed and success will come their way. The C and E teams both won in excellent games.

On Saturday, SPJ hosted a U10 festival for local rugby clubs. Our own U10s played against a variety of teams from London Scottish, Wimbledon, Battersea Ironsides, Hammersmith and Fulham and Richmond. It was a fantastic morning of rugby and there were some great performances on show to entertain a large collection of parents.

On Monday, the U13A and B were back in action against London Oratory. This is always a stern test against very large and committed boys. And so it proved once again that our boys had to work hard to nullify the raw physicality of these lads and find ways to tactically outsmart them. Both A and B teams won in the end with excellent performances.

The U12 and U13 were in action again against Caldicot on Wednesday. Away, the U12A took part in a wonderful game on the main pitch and all who saw it could not be more impressed by the level of skill and commitment on show from both sides. Caldicot won the day in the end by the odd try, but it was a fabulous game by any standards.

At home, the U13A played well to win again against a very committed but inexperienced Caldicot side, whilst the D team, playing against the opposition B team lost by a couple of tries.
After a well-deserved Remedy break, the boys have returned full of vim and vigour and are raring to go. The weather has been less kind in the first week back but we were still able to reply to the postponed matches at U11A and B against Emanuel. A bright early Tuesday afternoon kick-off heralded a return to winning ways for the U11s. The A team weathered a physical contest and their superior attacking skills saw them run out worthy winners by 35 -15. The B team also played well in a managed contact game and was also victorious.

On Wednesday, we welcomed Grey Court to our remarkably dry pitches despite the heavy rain during the night and through the morning. Our U13B and U12B played their A teams. The U12A played well against a good side and were just defeated by the odd try, whilst the U13B was rather blown away by a great side full of powerful and athletic runners, losing comfortably.
