We are delighted to report that there has been a number of recent successes in the Achilles Schools’ Relays, English Schools’ Athletics Championships and the South East Schools’ Octathlon.
Achilles Schools’ Relays
St Paul’s Athletics Club had a very successful day at the Achilles Schools’ Relays by winning five out of the five events entered, breaking four school records!
Greg (Upper Eighth), Yonni (Lower Eighth), Tom W (Upper Eighth) and James G (Upper Eighth) won the Open Boys 4x200m Douglas Lowe Trophy in a new school record time of 1:30.9s.
Fifth Form pupils Andreas, Sol, Thomas D and Max B, won the Under 17 4x400m Christopher Brasher Trophy in a superb time of 3:39.0s. This is some achievement considering all of the pupils are a year young and will defend the trophy next year!
Not to be outdone by the Senior and Inter teams, the Junior pupils had a fantastic afternoon. Fourth Form pupils Connel, Jadon, Timothy and Alex T won both the 4x100m Godfrey Brown Trophy and 4x200m Tom Hampson Trophy and broke both the school records with times of 47.1s and 140.1s, respectively.
Finally, Fourth Formers Rory, Benjy, Jacob and Cameron won the 4x800m Guy Butler Trophy in another school-record time of 9:06.3s. All the pupils involved made it a very proud day for the St Paul’s Athletics Club and are a credit to the school.

Athletics Achievements
St Paul’s Athletics Captain James G (Upper Eighth) and Max B (Fifth From) have been selected to represent Middlesex at the English Schools’ Athletics Championships. James will run the 200m in the senior boys’ category, whilst Max will run the 800m in the intermediate boys’ event. Selection for these Championships is highly prestigious and is even more impressive this year due to fields being restricted due to Covid-19.
Also representing Middlesex over the weekend was Andreas (Fifth Form), competing in the South East Schools’ U17 Octathlon. He set new personal bests in the javelin, 400m and high jump on his way to amassing a score of 3375 points to finish in 12th place overall.
